Recognizing the engineering that went into the OEM side mounts, it was easy to isolate the weak link. The lower mount is charged with managing the entire torque shift of the engine throughout braking and acceleration.
In the OEM design, HPA found the aluminum arm and stamped steel bracket to be strong enough to manage the forces applied to it, and although the rubber insert effectively dampens vibrations, it leaves a somewhat "sloppy" feel of engagement.
Focusing engineering efforts on how to improve this component, the unique Core Interlock* design was born to balance the Mk5's sensitive chassis harmonics while maintaining a comfortable feel of the engine at idle.
Designed in house and installed on every HPA creation dating back to the RGT Jetta and Passat, HPA's Core Interlock* motor mount works in a harmonic relationship with our proprietary durometer of urethane to effectively dampen the engine's vibrations while efficiently controlling the energy transfer between the engine and the subframe under acceleration and braking.
The Urethane's 100% mechanical integration with HPA's vertebrae-like Core Interlock* creates an ultra efficient means to offset the torque of the engine against the thrust section of the mount.
Unlike the urethane inserts which merely reinforce the OEM rubber mount, this is a completely re-engineered one stop solution that will control the engine's motion without the need to install aftermarket side mounts. The ride comfort is retained, but the shift response and chassis feel is vastly improved.
