True direct-fit heat shield
A unique feature of the IE heat shield is that it reuses factory mount grommets and mount points, making for a OEM-like installation, with no drilling or modification needed. IE's heat shield uses the opening in the radiator support to direct air to the filter, as well as a seal along the top perimeter, keeping intake air as cold as possible.
Unlike other intakes on the market, which simply clamp a filter on the end of the inlet pipe, IE's intake uses a high-flow 5" bellmouth to bring in as much air as possible through the air filter. With this innovative design, the bellmouth acts as a clean pass-through, securing the intake tube to the heat shield, with no worry of the pipe moving around and causing damage. Furthermore, the bellmouth design allows for a filter with much more surface area than average filters used in MK6 intake kits.
Feed your new IE450T EFR turbo with a supply of cold air with this direct-fit intake kit for MK6 Golf R. This intake features a generously-sized 3.5" inlet pipe that connects the IE MAF housing directly to a 5" bellmouth. IE's high-flow bellmouth is neatly housed in a heat shield, which separates the air filter from hot under-hood air, allowing only cold air to be drawn in to the turbo inlet.
