Recently, our client brought in his 2008 VW Passat 2.0TSI. As is, this car is a beauty. It's a mid-sized family sedan featuring a clean exterior, upscale interior and sporty performance. That said, a few upgrades could enhance its sporty characteristics and that's just what we attempted to do.
Let's start with the APR B6 2.0T FSI 3" Passat Exhaust System. It's a full exhaust from the turbocharger back that sounds quiet, yet is noticeably deeper in tone. The stainless steel turbo-back looks great, while yielding modest gains. Simply adding an exhaust will not do much, but with software changes, the car can yield substantial gains. In this particular case, we implemented the APR Stage 2+ Tune (which requires the APR exhaust) so significant gains were achieved.
We installed a Neuspeed P-Flo intake to increase the supply of fresh air, while adding a deep engine roar upon acceleration. Replacing the factory intercooler with a Wagner Tuning Intercooler provides more surface area and volume, while maintaining a light weight. This results in improved performance gains and low intake temperatures without sacrificing too much airflow to the radiator.
We also added a Denso iridium spark plug which produces a hotter flash front for a more complete combustion, improving fuel efficiency and engine performance. For suspension, we installed a Neuspeed Spring Kit Sport, dropping our client's Passat 1.5" in the front and 1.7" in the back. The ride now has a more aggressive stance and better handling.
Finally, we topped off the already high quality cabin with a P3 Cars Vent Integrated Digital Interface to have access to boosts and performance data. It's functional and enhances the aesthetics of the dashboard, yet still fits within the clean look of the stock interior.
Now that we're finished, the Passat is now more sportier than ever. It looks good, sounds good and feels even better. Take a look at the photos below to see how it all panned out.
