Racers with high compression naturally aspirated engines or boosted engines who are looking for an alternative to boost dependent water/methanol injection controllers have a solution in AEM's Multi-Input WMI controller. The multiple input design enables users to install AEM’s Water/Methanol Injection Kit on both high compression naturally aspirated vehicles (NA) via the MAF/IDC settings and ultra-high boost vehicles (above 35 PSI) using an external MAP sensor. The Multi-Input controller works with an external 0-5v voltage-based external MAP sensor, a frequency based input for Injector Duty Cycle (IDC), frequency-based mass airflow (MAF), or a 0-5v voltage-based MAF. The Multi Input controller is offered in three kits; a one-gallon tank kit with a single injector for gas engines (PN 30-3350), a tank-less kit with a single injector (PN 30-3352), and a five-gallon tank kit with two injectors (PN 30-3351) for HD Diesel and high output gasoline applications.
Water/methanol injection for gas engines is a proven means for effectively reducing engine inlet air temperatures and suppressing harmful detonation on forced induction and high compression naturally aspirated (NA) race engines. This allows racers to reliably increase boost and advance ignition timing—without using high-octane racing fuel—for power gains of up to 20%. AEM’s Water/Methanol Injection Systems utilize the most robust hardware combined with more advanced features than any other comparably priced water/methanol system.
Reduces Air Inlet Charge Temps
Water/methanol’s “liquid intercooling” effect on turbo Diesel engines can reduce air charge temps by as much as 100 degrees, and deliver a more oxygen-rich air charge.
Enhances Combustion & Efficiency
In addition to cooling air inlet temps, as the water absorbs heat in the combustion chamber and converts to steam, the steam’s expansion rate increases the mean effective cylinder pressure without causing dangerous pressure spikes. This effective increase in cylinder pressure combined with methanol’s promotion of complete combustion allows your Diesel engine to burn fuel more completely. When fuel is being burned more completely less is wasted, which can increase fuel economy.
REDUCES EXHAUST GAS TEMPERATURES (EGTs)
Because Diesel vehicles using water/methanol injection burn fuel more completely, less un-burnt fuel is present in the exhaust manifold where it can flash ignite to increase EGTs and create particulate matter (soot). Water/methanol injection eliminates this secondary combustion of raw fuel in the exhaust manifold to reduce EGTs by up to 250 degrees, and reduces harmful particulates to extend engine life (and that expensive particulate filter).
